Supporting Our Canine Heroes: UGS Donates to Mission K9 Rescue

Each year, UGS gives back to an organization that shares our mission of serving the public and strengthening the human–animal connection. This year, we are proud to support Mission K9 Rescue — an extraordinary nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, reuniting, and rehoming retired military and contract working dogs.

Honoring Dogs Who Have Served Around the World

Since 2023, Mission K9 Rescue has rehomed more than 1,300 retired working dogs from across the globe. Many of these dogs have spent their careers serving in high-stress, high-stakes roles, including military operations, law enforcement, and work for contracted government agencies. Their service is critical, their professional skills unmatched, and their loyalty tenacious.

Mission K9 Rescue provides each dog with the veterinary care, rehabilitation, and behavioral support they need to transition from active duty to civilian life. In many cases, the team has been able to reunite dogs with their training handlers, including over 686 reunions and counting. For others, the organization carefully prepares them for adoption, matching them with forever homes that understand their unique histories and needs.

The Unique Challenges of Contract Working Dogs

Contract working dogs face a different reality. Although they perform the same vital, often dangerous tasks as their military counterparts, they are not owned by the U.S. government — meaning they do not automatically receive retirement benefits.

Many require specialized veterinary care or decompression time after careers marked by extreme environments. Mission K9 Rescue steps in to ensure these dogs receive the compassion, stability, and physical and behavioral healing they deserve.

An Urgent Need: Bringing 49 Retired Dogs Home from Kuwait

Right now, Mission K9 Rescue has an urgent mission of its own: transporting 49 retired contract dogs from their service duty in Kuwait. These senior canine heroes have given their all during their years overseas and now need to wait for the comfort, safety, and dignity of a well-earned retirement.

Their journey home — and the care that follows — depends on the support of organizations and individuals who believe in honoring animals that have served alongside us.

Why UGS Is Proud to Support This Mission

At UGS, we are honored to serve those who protect our communities — including the military, government agencies, humane societies, and shelters. Supporting the rehabilitation and rehoming of working dogs is an extension of that mission.

These canine veterans have dedicated their lives to service. Helping them reintegrate, heal, and find loving homes is not just a charitable act — it is an act of gratitude.
